Kalabai Baburao Hirvale is the founder and leading singer of the party ‘Bhimsandesh Gayan Party’. Early on, she used to sing bhajans of Kabir. Later on, she started singing Bhim Geet and formed her party with Siddharth Kamble, Gautam Avhad, Kiran Amravak and a few other people.
At first, she had to struggle to sing and perform publicly as her family was opposed to going to public gatherings and singing songs. She had to convince her family. She said” my husband used to beat me. Once he asked where did you go? to dance? I said, no. I went to sing songs of our Babasaheb! Babasaheb rescued us. Many generations will pass away but their debts will not be able to break. So to whom did Babasahebani entrust us? Of Gautama Buddha!
Even if our life is gone, we will not give up Tathagata (Gautam Buddha). We will take their name and dedicate our lives to them”.
She says,” I got the opportunity to serve Vamandada when he was sick.” She was personally influenced by Vamandada not only through singing but even his ideology.
She travels with her singer’s troupe to events with her own money. They take Dhammadan (remuneration) if only somebody is willing to pay.
She got a few awards with the name of Vamandada and she is known as Maharashtrachi Mavashi (Maharashtra’s maternal aunt).
She has sung songs of Vamandada Kardak and Gautam Avhad. These songs have their own rhythm. She has performed in numerous events and learnt from her own experiences.
